Monita is a company secretary and compliance leader with more than 27 years in regulatory compliance, corporate governance and legal advisory, across Reliance Industries, Essar, PwC and her own practice.

At Reliance Industries she was Vice President, Legal & Regulatory, from 2015 to 2021. Before that, as Vice President, Regulatory Assurance in Essar's Group Assurance team, she monitored compliance and recommended how to close gaps across group entities in India and overseas.

At PwC she was an Associate Director in Internal Audit Services and headed the Regulatory Compliance practice. She led teams of lawyers and company secretaries on statutory compliance audits covering direct and indirect tax, corporate law and labour law, for clients in ITeS, manufacturing, FMCG, healthcare, hydrocarbons, retail and telecom. She also designed a compliance framework for a compliance management solution, and advised companies on the legal compliance of their branches and subsidiaries abroad.

She began as Company Secretary at Onward Technologies, an IT services company present in eight countries, where she ran secretarial and statutory compliance, set up overseas subsidiaries, worked on mergers and amalgamations, and put corporate governance, internal control and risk management systems in place. In 2021 she founded MSA Consulting, which provides end-to-end compliance management to organisations of every size and complexity.

At BDI she is Partner and Head of Compliance & Legal Services in the Risk, Compliance & Regulatory practice, with Mohammad Sadiq as Co-Head, bringing that experience to clients' compliance frameworks, statutory compliance reviews and corporate governance.
